Members are personally responsible to notify the Dept about their SAOU membership, for the cancellation of the PSCBC deductions.

Members are personally responsible to cancel their membership with their previous union.  The SAOU is not allowed to cancel membership on behalf of a member.

Members are personally responsible to notify the SAOU of any changes regarding appointments (Governing body / Departmental), change of schools, contact details, etc.

IMPORTANT MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION | BELANGRIKE LIDMAATSKAP INLIGTING

  • New staff is appointed at schools annually, therefore, it is important to note that all departmental personnel must belong to a union.
  • If a teacher does not join a union themselves the DBE subtracts an agency fee of R96-25 which is shared among unions.
  • School representatives are requested to check the union membership status of all staff members and to assist with the recruitment of members (not only beginner teachers).
  • Please note: Departmental posts and Governing body posts have different membership forms.
  • The SAOU membership fee is R95-71 per month and school representatives still receive a R200 -00 gratuity for each successful new recruitment. Please contact the Executive Centre (National Office) should you need application forms.
  • After new members have submitted their application forms it is of utmost importance that members check on their salary slips that the DBE has registered their membership, for payment, on the Persal system.
  • If PSCBC(Agency) appears on the salary slip and R96-25 has been deducted, you are requested to make an urgent enquiry by contacting Retha Richter at 012 436 0900 so that the debit order can once again be presented to the Department.
  • When temporary appointments lapse, SAOU membership must once again be presented upon re-appointment.
  • Governing body post debit orders are linked to the member’s personal bank account.
  • A member must personally cancel the debit order if/when changing from a SGB post to a Departmental post.
  • A new application form for the Departmental post must be completed and sent to the Executive Centre so that the SAOU can present it to the DBE and the change can be made on the SAOU database.
  • To avoid double deductions, it is very important to contact our offices when you change your post, school or province.
  • All members must inform the SAOU if they resign.
  •  Debit orders are not cancelled automatically at the SAOU when they are cancelled at the bank.

  • Die SAOU-ledegeld is R95-71 per maand en skoolverteenwoordigers ontvang steeds R200-00 erkenning vir elke suksesvolle nuwe werwing. Kontak gerus die Uitvoerende Sentrum (Nasionale Kantoor), indien aansoekvorms benodig word.
  • Na nuwe lede hul aansoekvorms ingestuur het, is dit uiters belangrik dat lede op hul salarisstrokies moet kontroleer of die DBO hul lidmaatskap op die Persalsisteem, vir die betaling van die lidmaatskap fooi, geregistreer het.
  • Indien daar PSCBC (Agency) staan en R96-25 afgetrek word, moet lede dringend navraag doen by Retha Richter Tel 012 436 0900, sodat die debietorder weer by die Departement aangebied kan word.
  • Wanneer tydelike aanstelling verstryk, moet SAOU-lidmaatskap by heraanstelling weer aangebied word.
  • Lede in BL-poste se debietorder is teen hul eie bankrekening.
  • As lede van ‘n BL-pos na ‘n Departementele pos oorskakel moet hulself die debietorder by die SAOU kanselleer.
  • ‘n Nuwe aansoekvorm vir die Departementele pos moet ingevul word en na die Uitvoerende Sentrum gestuur word, sodat die SAOU dit by die DBO kan aanbied en die verandering op die SAOU databasis verander kan word.
  • Om dubbele aftrekkings te vermy is dit dus baie belangrik om ons kantore te kontak wanneer u van pos, skool of provinsie verander.
  • Alle lede moet die SAOU kantore in kennis stel wanneer hulle bedank
  • Debietorders word nie outomaties by die SAOU kantore gekanselleer wanneer ‘n lid sy debietorder by die bank kanselleer nie.
