PROVINCIAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL ELECTION

What is the role of the Provincial Executive Council within the provinces?

  • The Provincial Executive Council is responsible for the creation of circuits in accordance with the allotted circuit count as determined by the membership count of a province.
  • Manage and organize the activities of the SAOU in your district.
  • Communicate with and provide guidance to SAOU workplace representatives in schools in your district.

Election of the Provincial Executive Council

  • Every circuit in a Province must elect 3 (three) members known as Circuit organisers. The Provincial Chairman and Deputy Chairman will be elected during the constitution meeting of the newly elected PEC.
  • The Provincial Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson will not represent the circuits from which they were elected. These two vacancies will then be filled by two other members elected from the same circuit (usually candidate 4 and/or 5), who will then function as circuit organizers in their stead.
  • The SAOU election process happens every 3 years.

Why is my vote important?

  • To obtain the best possible candidates to represent them.
  • A representative on the PEC must be someone with the necessary knowledge who is trusted to act in the best interests of the members.
