The SAOU has several members at Swartruggens Combined School. We understand that there is a shortage of space for learners to attend school in the feeding area of the school. It is Unfortunate that the Department did not step in years ago and ensure that the area has sufficient capacity to address the needs of the community and the learners.  

The South African Teachers Union (SAOU) welcomes the new focus on practical realism that emerged during the annual Department of Basic Education (DBE) Lekgotla. The shift from high-level technological "pipe dreams" to strengthening fundamental skills such as literacy and numeracy is a crucial step towards a stable education system.

However, the SAOU emphasizes that policy without accountability and human support will not solve the pervasive crises in our schools.

The SAOU heartily congratulates the Class of 2025 on their achievement in the  National Senior Certificate examinations.

The results which were received today are an acknowledgement of the hard work and dedication of every learner, teacher, school management team and principal in this country.
